Social Media Boldness

Hey everyone!

I've been MIA for a while.. school is busy and I've been stressed and overwhelmed. I'm going to try to manage my time better so I actually have time for all of the things that I want and need to get accomplished.

Today in a communication class, my teacher was discussing our lack of inhibition when it comes to online communication. People are much bolder and often times more insulting when it comes to commenting and discussing things online.

I've seen plenty of YouTube comments that are just awful towards the person in the video or another user leaving a comment. I've never quite understood why this happens. My guess is that for some people it's simply a way to let out internal hurt and disappointment by tearing down a person they've never met.

For me, and for others, the online blogging and YouTube "community" is a place where it's easier to share and be open with others. When it's too intimidating to reveal much about your personality by speaking face to face, people turn to the internet. But there are people ruining this sense of community and comfort.

I've personally had people attack me through private messaging, but never through a completely open channel like commenting. I'm not sure what the best way to tackle this issue is, but it certainly should be addressed more often.

Have you ever left a mean comment? What do you think users should do about it?

Spring has sprung

Hey everyone!

Spring has technically not sprung, but my spring semester at college has started!
I have been really busy getting settled and readjusting to my college schedule after having almost a month off. That's why the blog hasn't been updated much.

I really do plan on sticking with this so don't worry!

I have a couple of really exciting things going on that hopefully I can tell you about soon.
But for now, you will just have to be patient with me!

I'm also in the market for some easy and healthy food ideas that I can make in a dorm room, meaning they don't need a stove or oven.

Sincerely, Paige

Any ideas? What are the quick and yummy foods you eat often?

Review: Revlon Nearly Naked

Hi everyone!

So, this week I have been slacking on working out, so I don't have any news there. But what I do have for you, is a makeup review!

I had heard a few good things about Revlon's new Nearly Naked foundation and powder from other bloggers (Nouveau Cheap and Lynette). So I decided to give it a try!

I've only worn the foundation once so far, as I haven't really been out and in need of much coverage. The consistency and coverage are both definitely on the lighter side. It is a nice neutral base color, which I think leans more yellow than pink. I really like that as most other foundations end up looking too redish-orange on me. I purchased the color 130 Shell, which is the third lightest shade.

The staying power was nice, but around 6 hours after applying, I needed to powder again. I do have to admit, I am a tad oily, so 6 hours is a pretty good amount of time for me stay fairly matte.

The right is the full unblended swatch, to the right is a lightly blended strip of the foundation.

The powder I purchased in the shade 020 Light Pale. I think this was the second lightest option. I really like the powder so far. It is not cakey, and is almost not "powdery", although that makes no sense as it is a powder? It applies well and doesn't look like you have an overly powdery face.
I tried to swatch it, but it's basically invisible on my skin.

Overall, I am enjoying these products so far. My only problem was a small dry patch on my face that the foundation didn't quite sit right on. But, that's my fault for not using a moisturizer.

Have you tried the new Nearly Naked line? Let me know, what are your favorite drugstore products?

Sincerely, Paige

Resolutions

Hey everyone!

I hope your year has started off with a bang! I can't believe its already the start of another year.

That being said, I am not one to make "resolutions", but I recently decided that there were a few things that I would like to improve upon in the next year. But I also want to carry these things with me from now on, so I'm not calling them resolutions, just changes I hope to make.

In the last week, it's finally hit me that my wedding is actually approaching quickly! If I want to get in shape I really have got to start soon! So I started to exercise. I decided to pin some things, and stumbled on Tori's blog.

Her workouts are incredibly simple to follow and she explains the moves before she picks them up to tempo. She also includes music so when I workout, I can just listen to her videos instead of having more than one app running at the same time and over complicating things.

The other thing I'm planning on changing is my diet. I'm not counting on eating well 100% of the time, since I live in a dorm for the majority of the year. Trying to eat healthy without a full kitchen is tough! But I really would like to cut down on the amount of sugar and processed foods I put into my body.

I took pictures of my food the other day and will post those now so that I can make myself accountable to sticking to this plan!

Breakfast was a multigrain cereal mix that I cooked and added pecans, maple syrup, bananas, cinnamon , and a dab of butter to.

For lunch I had cowboy caviar, a recipe I got from my soon-to-be mother in law! It is one of the easiest and best things I've made in a while! I enjoyed it with some chips and a glass of Passion tea from Tazo.

Dinner was so good that I forgot to photograph it. I had salmon with basmati rice and a couple of Brussel sprouts. Usually I can stomach them, but these were frozen steam in a bag, which I do NOT recommend trying.

For dessert I had strawberries with a little whipped cream.

Keep in mind these were not the quantities I ate, just a representation of what I had.

What are your main goals for the year? Leave a comment below to tell me what you hope to change in 2013!

Sincerely, Paige
